TMJ

The TMJ (temporomandibular joint) refers to the jaw joint located directly in front of your ears. It's a complex ball and socket joint with a fluid-filled disk in between the ball and socket. It also has nerve, blood, and ligament attachments and can be a sensitive area if there's something wrong with it.

Symptoms of TMJ issues may be as mild as painless clicking or popping noises in the joint when opening or closing to as severe as your jaw locking open with severe pain. During your initial comprehensive check-up, we will check your TMJ and surrounding muscles to screen for any issues. We will also ask you about your experience with any TMJ issues so that we can properly diagnose TMJ problems you may be having.
